{open} is pleased to present “Polaroid (RIP),” Polaroid photography from LA artist Marleah Tobin. Tobin’s work is unplanned, un-choreographed and unscripted, what she calls “a left hand path to digitization.” Her goal is to capture an image as it happens, “the way your youth was captured - tangible, visceral, but simultaneously dreamlike.” Things immortalized not as they necessarily looked, but how you felt and how you'll remember them. Instant film is dying, obsolete, but warmer and more expressive than pixels, it's the stuff that grabs your heart. “Polaroid (RIP)” will open with a reception on Saturday, March 29 that includes music and light refreshments, from 6 to 9 p.m. Call (562) 499-open or visit thestoryofopen.com for more information, Runs through May 25.
